Just out of curiosity, if you go with canon powers, are your characters abilities limited or altered in any way to more suit their given class?

Like this guy would fall under every class because he's a jack of all trades, but if he was in the game as a magic user of some kind, would his physical ability be reduced while maintaining his magical capabilities that suit his class? Or would he eventually regain all of his canon strengths?
