Please remember to check the Settings Page, where population density is given for many species on this page. Races that require a mod for interaction are for plot purposes only, and likely have not been seen in large numbers yet. Please reply to the Plot Post if you would like to use one in a player plot.

* - No mod required
@ - DEADLY

Eredar (#)(@) Once a noble race, the Eredar have become twisted, fel-weaving caricatures of their former selves. The Eredar lead their armies across worlds, and serve as the most supreme overlords and strategists of their various companies. If an Eredar has made landfall on a planet, the end is sure to be near.

Annihilan (#)(@) Also known as "pit lords" in common tongue, they are massive and lizard-like, born of magic and hatred. They are purely driven by bloodthirst and their own extremely volatile natures. There are very few that exist in this plane, as they often act as generals from out in the Twisted Nether.

Nazrethim (#)(@) Also known as "dread lords" in common tongue, they are winged harbingers of the Burning Legion. They are highly intelligent, and play the role of lieutenants and tacticians on the field of battle. They are cunning and sneaky, able to disguise themselves to hide their nefarious deeds. Adventurers might go their whole lives and never realize a dread lord has acted against them in countless, seemingly unrelated ways.

Satyr (*)(@) Once noble night elves, Satyr are some of the most cunning allies of the Burning Legion. They stand six feet high with furred, horned, and hooves bodies, gifted to them after fully embracing the Legion's foul demonic magics. Satyr are very potent spellcasters, selfish, and known for their trickery. Be certain not to underestimate their power, or you may find yourself a pile of ash.

Fel Hunter (*)(@) Fel hunters are the bane of magic users everywhere. Night Elves fear these creatures more than any other due to their fatal attraction to magic. The twin antennae off their skulls serve as siphons to literally pull the life out of a magic user, leaving them a broken and helpless husk for them to devour. Fel hunters tend to travel and packs and are thus very dangerous to encounter.

Imp (*) Small but ferocious, imps are the smallest class of demon and specialize in arson. Imps have the ability to split and multiply themselves when in the presence of fire and are quick to swarm and destroy. They are smart-mouthed and simple of mind, often considered the peons of the Burning Legion.

Felguard (*) Felguards are the generic grunts and soldiers of the Burning Legion. They are common and are often seen in various shades of red and purple skin, adorned with wicked armor. They wield large weapons, and can be considered berserkers.

Dragons (*) The Dragons of Azeroth come in varying shapes and sizes, but exist in five distinct factions denoted by scale color: red, blue, green, bronze, and black. Every dragon is gifted with higher awareness and sentience -- these are not wild animals, and they are as ancient as the planet itself. Dragons have a distinct culture and are very protective of their secrets and their young. Most dragons are wary of the "younger races" due to the recent war that sparked decimation to the planet and to their numbers. They speak their own language, as well as the common language of the realm.

Dragons are not overgrown lizards with wings. They are not haughty beasts ruled by greed. They demand respect, and are guardians of the world they watch over, blessed by the very Titans themselves.

Night Elves (*) The Night Elves are some of the oldest creatures existing on Azeroth. Their skin color range from hues of blue to purple, with long ears that extend horizontally rather than vertically. They are also known as Kaldorei, or "children of the stars". Their eyes often glow white without pupils and their hair sprouts in varying cool-shades, as well as the occasional white. Night Elves generally have markings near their eyes and walk with assured grace and confidence. Night Elves are rarely slender people, built with muscle suitable for living in and climbing trees. As well, Night Elves hold nature and magic in the highest regard and will not hesitate to harm others if harm is done to their possessions. The Night Elves are enemies to the Trolls and Aqir, and are currently the most dominant species in the land.

Night Elves generally do not trust outsiders, but are more willing to talk than the other native races. The only exceptions are the Night Elf mages known as the Highborne. These elves are rarely interested in speaking to others.

Trolls (*) The Trolls are menacing looking creatures, said to have been the species from which the Night Elves evolved from after they came in contact with the Well of Eternity. Trolls are muscular, blue and green-skinned humanoid creatures with sharp tusks in all shapes and sizes and long (often pierced) ears. Their hair comes in various shades and lengths, though longer hair is often intricately braided. Their speech is accented and may sound similar to someone who might live in the Caribbean Islands. They exist in tribal society and are currently split into two empires -- the Gurubashi and the Amani. Both are enemies to the Aqir and the Night Elves, but do not have the power to stand up to the latter, leaving them stranded on opposite ends of the continent. Trolls serve animal gods known as the Loa. Though the Trolls have split into two separate Empires, they generally only make trouble with the Night Elves and the Aqir.

Be wary, traveler. Recent occurrences have made the Trolls extremely hostile to outsiders.

Tauren (#) Dragons occasionally speak of a race of bull-men that wander the lands. Not much is known about these creatures outside of the fact that they stand about 10 feet high and live in nomadic clans. They are an ancient race, and not one to be trifled with.

Furlbogs (#) Like the Tauren, the current whereabouts of these mysterious bear-men are unknown. They stand as tall as Night Elves, and are ten times as vicious. Rumors whisper that their lairs are hidden somewhere underground.

Nerubians (#) Vicious and xenophobic, Nerubians take the form of eight-legged spider people. Their bodies are made of hard (and sometimes furry) chitin, and they often have a shadowy aura about them. They lack any desire to mingle with the younger races, and are considered organized and dangerous.

Qiraji (#) Cousins to the Nerubians, the Qiraji sport brightly colored chitin shells, and can be compared to highly intelligent swarming beetles. The Qiraji live in large numbers and attack anything that moves in their territory. It is common knowledge that they serve a higher power, but few people on Azeroth will talk about exactly what that higher power is. The bite of the Qiraji is venomous.

Bears (*)(@) Black and brown bears are not all that different from your typical bear. Bears can be found all over the forests of Kalimdor -- sometimes even with odd markings in colors. If you happen to stumble upon one of those, its probably a druid. Bears are a favored mount of the Amani troll tribe, and will often be decorated with leathers, feathers, war paint and skulls to signify ownership.

Crocolisks (*) Crocolisks can be found in many of the southern rivers of Kalimdor. Unlike crocodiles, crocolisks possess six limbs, are twice as fast, and have twice the jaw strength. They come in a variety of colors -- some dark and murky to blend in the rivers, some bright and terrifying to ward off hunters. The more brightly colored the crocolisk, the more deadly their bite.

Nightsabers (*)(@) Like their tiger cousins, Nightsabers are large ferocious felines with furry striped (and occasionally spotted) pelts. Nightsabers often appear in shades of black, white, cream, and silver and sport large saber fangs that make them excellent war mounts. Night Elves are very fond of them. Wanton killing of nightsabers may earn you the ire of local Night Elf populations.

Owls (*) These owls are not your typical birds of prey. The owls of Kalimdor are large with wicked talons, and can often be found at all times of the day. They tend to stick to shadier canopies in the forests.

Panthers (*) Black panthers stalk the jungles of the Gurubashi tribe alongside tigers. Unlike their striped cousins, trolls will often tame these creatures to be used as stealth guards. Tread carefully in the jungles to avoid being taken by surprise.

Raptors (*)(@) Brightly colored and large enough to use as war mounts, raptors are a bit harder to track down in the landscape. Raptors are found only in the jungles of Gurubashi territory, and are often tamed by them to be used as attack animals or beasts of burden. Wild raptors travel in packs and are not to be trifled with.

Snakes (*) The snakes native to the jungles are often larger, resemble cobras, and possess deadly venom. These snakes often stand as tall as the average human, but are few in number. Their venom is highly prized by trolls and occasionally used on their weaponry.

Stag (*) Regarded as a strong symbol of nature, stags are scattered all over the forests of Kalimdor. Their antlers are offensively large, and their pelts vary in shades of black, brown, white and sometimes even purple and blue. Wanton killing of stags may earn you the ire of local Night Elf populations.

Tigers (*) Your typical Bengal tigers. These big guys are native to the jungles of the Gurubashi trolls, and they are excellent hunters. They are occasionally tamed by troll hunters to be used as perimeter warnings.
